P2P + CDN
P2P + CDN
The ForceTech solution builds a peer to peer connected architecture, making every client a service receiver and meanwhile a provider. In such decentralized framework, user bandwidth is utilized to increase total system capacity, overcoming the server bottleneck problem in traditional Client/Server framework. Meanwhile, since clients can obtain content from multiple sources, e.g. the resource server or other clients, the system robustness is greatly improved.

Different from traditional pure P2P solution, ForceTech provides a CDN-assisted P2P solution in providing a platform level service. Strategically deployed CDN video servers around the Internet enable end users to obtain streaming video from one of the nearby servers to reduce the end-to-end delay and overall network congestion. Meanwhile, the combination of P2P networks around those servers facilitates peers to freely transmit within their P2P clusters to achieve maximum scalability. With well combination of the two computing model, the benefits of both CDN and P2P are combined in the Force CDN-assisted P2P media streaming solution.

Key techniques – ForceTech P2P swarming
• An efficient P2P protocol based on private UDP that guarantees stable transmission and enables transmission through NAT.
• The P2P swarming technology achieves that the best management and utilization of buffer caching through multiple to multiple AI and election transmission mode centered around peer service
• In the mesh network, the seed connection rate keeps above 90%. Ensures the buffer caching of the live program content, improves the visit efficiency and guarantees the timely arrival of accurate user data.
• Supporting both live video streaming and video on demand

Key techniques –ForceStream Media Server
• Directly read the video file in the server and distribute the content over internet without relying on other streaming system like Windows Media services or Helix Server.
• One single ForceStream Media Server can support 3-10 times of users of traditional streaming server
• Supporting load balance. The system achieves optimal performance and implementation for “millions of users + tens of millions of content + hundreds of physical machines”.
• The server cluster has the automatic fault-tolerance function. In case of certain server failure, the system can redirect the user content address to other server to ensure good user viewing quality without discontinuity and re-buffering.
• Supporting advertisement. Format like gif, jpg, wmv, flv before/during/after the video playing. It also supports scrolling marquis and embedding logos.

Key techniques – ForceTechP2P Anystream
• Enabling the video progress dragging time within 2-7 seconds if proper downloading capacity is guaranteed
• Supporting 3rd party DRM protection based on ForceStream system
• Supporting file local storage (with configuration)
• Enabling the function to cross varieties of ISPs when the operator chooses any site as the center of the ForceTech server, most internet users around the world can view the video with the same high quality.

Friendly P2P application
Combined with the intelligent hot content distribution function, the users in different regions are guided to access content from nearby edge servers and other users. Local access is set to be in high priority, which saves backbone network resources and avoids cross-ISP and cross-region traffic. This to some extent saves the former problem that P2P applications take up too much network bandwidth, and enables P2P to satisfy the application requirement of telecom-class operators, achieving the ture and high philosophy of P2P streaming technology, i.e “more users=less cost + higher quality”.
